First 5 Nevada – Nevada has programs and funding to help your child get the strong start you want to give them. It takes just five minutes to open a world of opportunity for your child’s first five years.  Visit the First 5 Nevada website to learn more.

Nevada Families First is a FREE Home Visiting program through Community Chest, Inc., serving multiple northern Nevada counties such as Storey, Lyon, Churchill, Carson, Douglas, Mineral, and Nye. Home visiting is a service for pregnant mothers and families with children ages 0-5 years old, focusing on the importance of the child’s first 5 years of life for their development and Kindergarten readiness. Home visitors and families meet weekly or bi-weekly at the family’s home and provide parent-child activities, developmental screenings, referrals to community resources, and more (such as lactation support, safe sleep, car seat installation, etc.). Resources include: Diaper Bank for children 3 and under, Baby Items/Supplies like Formula and Breast Pumps, Essential Needs – food, hygiene, and cleaning supplies. We help connect and refer to resources around the community such as getting set up with Medicaid & Food Stamps. We also offer free parenting classes, support groups for moms, and an English as Second Languages (ESL) class.
